My name is Esther Cho, and I currently teach high school English at Fairfax County Public Schools. With four years of professional teaching experience, I have taught AP English Language and Composition, English 9 Honors, and English 12 Honors. I hold a Virginia Professional Teaching License for English and Math (Grades 7-12), along with certifications in Project-Based Learning (PBL) and CollegeBoard AP Lang & Comp. and AP Lit & Comp. training.
I earned a Master of Science in English Education from the University of Pennsylvania and Bachelor of Arts in English and Bachelor of Science in Packaging Science from Virginia Tech. Over the past two years, I served as a CollegeBoard AP Lang reader, evaluating 1,835 rhetorical analysis essays in Tampa, FL (2023) and Cincinnati, OH (2024).
Beyond the classroom, I instruct SAT English and coach college admission essays at Edison Academy LLC. Additionally, I co-authored research with Virginia Tech and Korea University on Korean pitch and politeness. Our study analyzed how pitch signals politeness across languages, utilizing eight Korean and eight American voices for comparative analysis. I also contribute as a Board of Directors member at the Korean American Scholarship Foundation (KASF) Eastern Regional Chapter, where I assess scholarship application essays.
